Introduction

The Astrup Family Foundation is a 501(c)(3) non-profit, charitable organization created to support honorable charities in the focus areas of Christian faith, family values, education, healthcare and strengthening communities.  This foundation was established by Corrine Astrup and her four children (Ann Astrup, Chris Astrup, Dan Astrup and Susan Astrup Lundquist) in 2014. The foundation is made possible by the legacy of Leonard and Corrine Astrup, which began with the drugstore chain that was founded by Leonard Astrup in 1952 in Austin, Minnesota. Corrine was passionate about the mission of the foundation and about giving generously.

Leonard Astrup, a pharmacist himself, passed away in July 2014 after a difficult journey with Alzheimer’s. Corrine Astrup passed away suddenly in March 2019.  The Astrup Family Foundation is a family endeavor. The founding Board of Directors was made up of Corrine Astrup, her four children and three grandchildren. Now her 4 children and 3 grandchildren will honorably continue serving on the board but will miss her regular board participation and seeing the joy she found in giving.

The goal of the foundation is to give money annually toward supporting 501(c)(3) organizations/charities that affect individuals and communities nationwide, but with a primary focus in the Midwest and in the communities in which the business was built and where our family grew up and was raised. The Astrup Family Foundation’s mission statement was set by Corrine and her children after Leonard’s death as a way to give back to the communities they served through the years.
